Back in September 2007, we at Various Things & Stuff compared the late Las Vegas Sun columnist Ruthe Deskin to the Review-Journal’s Jane Ann Morrison. And we’d like to take this opportunity to apologize.
To Ms. Deskin. It was an unfair and grossly inaccurate thing to write, and we sincerely apologize.
After all, Deskin never wrote a column about her dental work, with a derivative paragraph that wouldn’t make a high-school newspaper, let alone an average medium-circulation regional daily. And Deskin never wrote a column that included Polish and Jewish names, only to add: “How I long for the days when I could spell the owners’ names … and find them at their hotels.”
Really? OK, make that an average, medium-circulation regional daily in the deep South.
Anyway, we deeply regret our earlier comparison, and hereby retract it, thus removing an unwarranted stain from the memory of a fine Las Vegan.
