Face-smacking irony

President George W. Bush — a man who led the corrupt, lie-based, unnecessary and misery-inducing Iraq War, telling America that only John McCain has “the judgment, the experience and the policies” to keep America safe. How the hell would Bush know?

President Bush — a man who started a totally unnecessary war on false pretenses that has killed more than 4,000 American soliders and thousands of Iraqis, innocent and otherwise — lauding McCain because the senator “knows that human life is precious.”

“That human life must be protected,” Bush said. To avoid that irony, you have to really be trying.

President Bush — a man who used the tragedy of Sept. 11 to invade a sovereign nation without justification, thus diverting our military’s resources from the hunt for the people who perpetrated Sept. 11, who by the way are still at large — saying, “We need a president who understands the lessons of September the 11th 2001.”

Hell, yeah, we do. Among those lessons:

  1. Only commit your military to a cause when it is just, supported by evidence and well-planned from start to finish. Bush never quite learned that lesson.
  2. When you are attacked, prosecute your war against your attackers, and no one else. Bush missed that one, too.
  3. Never allow people whose bloodlust has been boiling over for decades, whose misbegotten plans for invasion of a sovereign nation have been sitting on the bookshelf for years, to have any place in your administration, because they will lie, cheat, steal, bend the facts and do whatever is necessary to shed blood. Bush really got that one wrong.
  4. Never, ever lie. If you find yourself tempted to lie, re-examine your motives. How many lives could have been saved had Bush learned that lesson before the 2003 invasion of Iraq?
  5. Remember, if you do lie, and go to war based on those lies with reckless disregard for whether or not people will be killed, history will remember your name with a single word, even if a criminal jury might not: Murderer.

Other than that, great speech, Mr. President.

One Response to “Face-smacking irony”

Gee, Steve I seem to remember something about the criteria set out by the American Founders about Just Wars?

Let’s see, oh yeah: There must be a clear and present danger to the United States; All political and diplomatic resources should be attempted and exhausted first - Bush messed that one up TOO! Then, there’s the part about having a plan to win quickly, while minimizing civilian casualties and collateral damage, and stabilizing the peace, re-building damaged infrastructure and bringing our troops home as safely and quickly as possible!

So, not only did Bush screw up the Just War in Afghanistan - he totally screwed up by immorally, unethically, illegally invading Iraq in an UNJUST War!

Gee, what are missing here? Oh, yeah, the money factor - so, all of Bush and Cheney and Rumsfield and Rice’s portfolio pals could make billons in blook money by investing in war for profit!

So, maybe that’s what we’re missing? That Bush thinks the Founders didn’t know much about business - and the U. S. Constitution is just a “guideline”?

Bush IS a murdering war criminal - and so are Cheney, Rumsfield, Rice and Rove and every damn one of them that sent us into Iraq!
