Congrats to the Siren!

We found out today that one of CityLife’s former staffers, Emmily Bristol, has been offered a gig as the Southern Nevada director of the Progressive Leadership Alliance of Nevada. Good for her! (Since leaving CityLife, Emmily has blogged at Sin City Siren.)

While at CityLife, Emmily always was interested in environmental causes, including and especially the plan by the LandWell Cos. to build houses on Henderson land that was essentially an environmental wasteland during World War II. In a classic story, she demonstrated that authorities don’t even known all the chemicals that were dumped on the land, much less when it could be certified for human habitation.

LandWell Co., developers of the project, fired back by buying a full-page ad in order to publish a letter filled with inaccuracies, exaggerations and the like. We’re proud to say we replied in a column that set the record straight. As it turns out, Emmily knew her subject backwards and forwards.

So now, it looks like Emmily will again be tackling an environmental issue that has slipped the notice of every other progressive or environmental group in town. And just in time, too.

Good for Emmily!

Speaking of issues that have slipped the notice…whatever happened to ex-treasurer Bob Seale’s (now harpist for Adelson), contract with Nevada Department of Taxation? sealecompanygetscontract

What happened to all his other contracts with the State? Even with Krolicki out of the Treasurer position is Bob Seale still competing succesfully against other companies for State business?

Seems Direct Response has turned into Healthy Coffee International (Direct got involved with subprime lending;oops)…and Seale’s company, International Settlement Corporation (ISC), ceased to exist according to the Nevada Secretary of State site, as of March 2008.

Never saw where Direct Response Financial made any mention in their SEC reports that they had a State contract. Is that wierd?
