Oh, scared to blame Obama, are you?
Historian and CSN prof Michael Green writes:
I would like very much to put Joe Lieberman on a raft in the middle of the Atlantic after rubbing him down with whatever most attracts sharks. So I share your feelings. But I noticed in your criticism of Sen. Harry Reid for not leading the effort to strip Lieberman of his Homeland Security chairmanship, a name is missing: Barack Obama. Two days after the election, Reid met with Lieberman and, according to news reports, may have told him that he wanted to strip him of the chairmanship. Shortly thereafter, President-Elect Obama (nice to see that — even nicer when the “Elect” is gone) called Reid and suggested letting Lieberman keep his chairmanship.
In other words, you wanted the Senate majority leader to tell the newly elected president from his party to kiss the end that goes over the fence last. I don’t blame you. If you want to blame Reid for his actions you disagree with, fine. But if you want to blame someone for this kid-gloves treatment of Lieberman, why are you not blaming the president-elect?
