Jim Gibbons loves … John McCain? Well of course he does! Both the governor and the Republican presidential front-runner love war. Both fought in Vietnam, although Gibbons managed to pilot his F-4 Phantom without getting shot down. Maybe that explains why McCain says that Americans don’t mind if we’re in Iraq for 100 or 1,000 or 10,000 years.
But the most interesting reasons that Gibbons loves McCain, as revealed by my colleague in the spring-fresh smelling town of Reno to the north, Anjeanette Damon, is this: "John McCain is somebody who is a very fiscal conservative [sic]," Gibbons said. "He does not tolerate all of these earmarks that are constantly being put in the budget by members of Congress, by senators. His reputation is standing up for the taxpayers."
Yeah, man! McCain has no patience for members of Congress who put those earmarks in bills. You know. Congressmen like REPRESENTATIVE JIM GIBBONS OF NEVADA, for example! He was Porker of the Month for his earmark to repair a Sparks swimming pool that he said he felt guilty about damaging in his youth.
Our job is really getting too easy. It’s like Gibbons isn’t even trying to avoid saying or doing stupid things that allow us to expose him as a hypocrite. Seriously, governor, it’s time to get your head in the game, or we’re just calling the whole thing off.
